Biography :
Training :
Dr Toba had his undergraduate medical education at the prestigious College of Medicine of the University of Lagos in Lagos Nigeria where he also had his postgraduate training in Internal Medicine before moving to the United Kingdom to further his postgraduate training. He is dually accredited with the UK General Medical Council and DHA in both Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine.
Experience :
Dr. Toba has had over 40 years of medical practice since qualifying in 1983 which has seen him practice in Nigeria, United Kingdom, USA and Middle East. He has experience at consultant level at various UK hospitals including the Homerton University Hospital, London, Worthing Hospital, Croydon University Hospital, London, and at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow where he also served as the Clinical Service Lead. He was also a consultant in Internal and Geriatric Medicine at the Mediclinic City Hospital Dubai, from 2013 to 2023.
Membership, Fellowship and Certifications :
He bagged the MRCP(UK) in 1992. He is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London. He holds membership of the Society for Acute Medicine (UK) and the British Geriatric Society. He has an MBA and various certifications including in Healthcare Management, Business of Healthcare, Business Strategy, Patient Safety and Quality in Healthcare. Dr Toba also holds Diploma in Internal Medicine, and also in Endocrinology both from the prestigious Imperial College/Hammersmith hospital, London. He is an enthusiastic educator; he is accredited as a physicians’ educator by the Royal College of Physicians of London and holds a postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education from the University of Dundee (Scotland). He has served on various Royal College of Physicians education committees including acute internal medicine specialty certificate examination standard setting group (SSG) and question writing group (QWG).
Patient Safety and Quality :
While at the Mediclinic City Hospital, he served as a committee member of the Patient Safety and Quality subcommittee and was the Lead physician for the Joint Committee International (JCI)’s Care of patient Chapter in the hospital, for several years.
